Controls and Automation Expert

We are seeking an expert in automation systems to join our team. As a key member of the operations team, you will be responsible for the performance and reliability of our control systems, leading site automation projects, and supporting operations in real-time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Champion: You will champion safety in all aspects of automation work and ensure compliance with site and company-wide standards.
  • Automation Expertise: You will own the site's control systems and automation infrastructure, ensuring it aligns with group standards and best practices.
  • Project Leadership: You will scope, develop, and implement automation and controls strategies to improve production performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: You will partner with engineering, operations, and the asset care team to develop and embed reliability plans.
  • Problem-Solving Pro: You will be part of the front line, supporting real-time issue resolution and breakdown rectification to help keep production flowing.
  • Tech Advocate: You will stay across emerging automation technologies and equipment, acting as the SME for our preferred platforms.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Educational Background: Ideally, you will have a degree in electrical engineering or a certificate 3 in electrotechnology.
  • Experience: Solid experience working in an automation or controls engineering role, ideally in a fast-paced manufacturing or operations environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, SCADA, PLCs (e.g. Siemens, Rockwell), and automation standards.
  • Soft Skills: Proven skills in process improvement, project management, and implementing reliability strategies, along with a collaborative mindset and ability to bring people along for the ride as you lead change and build capability.
