We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Project Officer, specializing in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander governance. This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented professional to make a meaningful contribution to the self-determination and governance capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Manage Projects: Develop proposals, define scope, oversee delivery, manage resources, timelines, and budgets for key advisory projects.
- Undertake Research: Conduct robust qualitative and quantitative research, transforming findings into strategic, culturally grounded insights and recommendations.
- Develop Strategic Advice: Create impactful reports, proposals, policy submissions, and strategic advice that drive positive change.
- Build Relationships: Establish trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nations, governance bodies, clients, and partners.
- Represent the Organisation: Lead effective consultation processes, represent the organisation at external forums and events, and contribute to policy and reform initiatives.
Requirements:
- Cultural Competency: Demonstrated cultural competency and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations in community.
- Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in fields such as Indigenous studies, public policy, governance, research, law, or other relevant areas.
- Project Planning Experience: Proven experience in project planning and delivery, specifically within governance, policy, or advisory projects.
- Strong Communication Skills: High-level written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare impactful reports, proposals, and policy submissions.
- Research and Analysis: Strong research skills (qualitative and/or quantitative), coupled with the ability to translate findings into strategic insights and culturally grounded recommendations.
- Interpersonal and Relationship-Building Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, including deep consultation and facilitation experience.
