Chassis Mechanic Job Overview

Seeking an experienced and reliable Chassis Mechanic to perform routine inspections, diagnose mechanical issues, repair, and maintain intermodal chassis ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and repair braking systems, lights, suspensions, landing gear, tires, and structural components.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues on chassis and related trailer equipment.
  • Perform DOT inspections and maintenance tasks as necessary.
  • Weld, cut, and fabricate parts to complete repairs.
  • Document all work accurately and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Operate power tools and shop equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with other technicians to achieve timely and effective repairs.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in chassis/trailer repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of brake systems, lights, tires, and framework.
  • Basic welding skills preferred but not required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles.

Working Conditions:

Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with variable temperatures and weather conditions. Frequent lifting, bending, and exposure to hazardous materials may be required.
