Nurse Practitioner Role

Job Description:The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive health assessments, initiating and interpreting diagnostic investigations, diagnosing, prescribing pharmacological and non-pharmacological agents/therapies, and discussing/referring to medical specialists and other health professionals as needed.
The nurse practitioner will work autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role to deliver a child and family-centered approach to healthcare within the nominated specialty service. The NP provides innovative and flexible health care delivery that complements other healthcare providers. The NP's scope of practice (SCOP) is determined by the context of practice, is underpinned by policy and service requirements. The SCOP will be reviewed regularly in conjunction with the service director and/or manager or Nurse Manager as relevant to the service.
- Comprehensive health assessment and initiation and interpretation of diagnostic investigations
- Diagnosis and prescription of pharmacological and non-pharmacological agents/therapies
- Discussion and referral to medical specialists and other health professionals as needed
- Master's degree in nursing or related field
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant area such as paediatrics or critical care
