Chief Judicial Assistant

The Honourable Justice Harris is seeking a legally qualified individual to assist her in her judicial duties.
Justice Harris has a background in commercial law, professional and public liability, and public law. She sits in the Common Law Division and hears matters across that breadth, as well as sitting in the Commercial Court. She currently oversees the Property List at the Supreme Court of Victoria.
The successful applicant will have strong writing and research skills and a desire to excel in their role. They will gain valuable experience working in the Common Law Division and Commercial Court of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with judgment production, including proofreading and editing
- Clerking in court proceedings
- Reviewing files and orders
- Performing administrative tasks, such as maintaining court records and preparing materials for use by the judge
- Preparing research memoranda
- Communicating with court staff, the public, media, and the legal profession
About the Ideal Candidate:
You will possess excellent interpersonal skills, including confidently and accurately conveying information through various channels. Exceptional proofreading and writing skills, proficiency in grammar, and an excellent academic record are essential.
Must be qualified in Law, with 1-2 years post-admission experience desirable but not mandatory.
