Director of Climate Policy

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Climate Policy Director. This role will play a critical part in implementing long-term public policy and government engagement strategies, programs, and initiatives to support the achievement of our organization's policy goals.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of international climate policy frameworks, including carbon markets, jurisdictional REDD+, and nesting policies. They will be responsible for developing policy recommendations and implementing strategies to influence the design of national climate solution policy frameworks in priority countries globally and in the region.

About the Role- Develop and implement strategies to advance climate policy priorities, focusing on carbon market, jurisdictional REDD+, and nesting policies.
- Work closely with colleagues to lead or contribute to the development of policy analysis, positions, briefings, recommendations, and serve as a recognized resource for staff and decision-makers.
- Serve as a liaison between teams working on other policy matters, including oceans and biodiversity.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in public policy, international affairs, conservation science, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of direct experience in developing and managing non-profit public policy initiatives in the climate space.
- Established relationships in the climate change policy community.
- Excellent understanding of policy processes and strategy for influencing them.
- Demonstrated track record of effective partnership building and collaboration with external stakeholders.
- Strong organization, project management, and prioritization skills, with ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
- Fluency in English and proficiency in a second language would be beneficial.
This role involves significant travel (at least 30%) and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. We offer a hybrid work structure, with some days spent in the office and others worked remotely.
QualificationsThis position requires a solid foundation in policy analysis, strategic thinking, and effective communication. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build effective partnerships.
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, combined with significant experience in non-profit policy development and management, is essential for this role. A proven track record of achieving results in complex policy environments will be highly valued.
