About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Medical Laboratory Assistant in the Haematology Department at Prince of Wales Hospital. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for providing support and assistance to laboratory staff in delivering a patient-focused service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a range of laboratory support and procurement duties, including maintaining stocks and storage, invoice management, and inquiries.
  • Provide assistance to laboratory staff, under supervision, to deliver a patient-focused service.
  • Maintain high-quality work output while managing competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients, and clinical staff.
  • Use computer hardware and software applications to complete requirements of the role.
  • Awareness of legislation, policies, and requirements relevant to a laboratory setting.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience with procurement tasks, such as maintaining stocks and storage, invoice management, and inquiries.
  • A working knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn, all aspects of the laboratory environment relevant to the Haematology department.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high-quality work output while managing competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience and skills, preferably in a laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills combined with the ability to investigate and resolve general issues within the laboratory environment.
  • Awareness of legislation, policies, and requirements relevant to a laboratory setting.
