The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Bid Estimator to join our Business Development Team on a permanent basis. The primary responsibility for this role is for accurately calculating the total costs associated with a project or a specific task.

Main Responsibilities

  • Review project specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and materials required
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor work
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and ensure estimates are comprehensive
  • Identify and quantify cost factors, such as time, materials, and labour expenses
  • Evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accuracy and competitiveness
  • Maintain a database of cost information for future reference
  • Provide support to Project Managers and other team members as needed

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • Ideally with 2+ years' experience as an Estimator or similar role in the Construction or Utilities industry (desirable)
  • Proficient in review of technical documents including site drawings
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure all requirements of a project are captured
  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Full working rights in Australia
  • A proactive self-starter who can operate both individually and as part of a team.
