Job Summary

The DIRECTOR - CYBER SECURITY - OCEANIA role is an exciting opportunity to lead and oversee all aspects of the organisation's cyber security program, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets.

This critical role involves developing and implementing comprehensive cyber security strategies, policies and procedures to protect the organization's digital infrastructure from evolving threats and vulnerabilities.

The Director - Cyber Security will lead a team of skilled professionals, fostering a culture of proactive risk management, incident response, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities, assess potential impact, and prioritize remediation efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement risk mitigation strategies and controls.
  • Establish and enforce cyber security policies, standards, and procedures to govern the organisation’s information assets and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits to validate the effectiveness of security controls and processes and address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on cyber security best practices, policies, and procedures. Conduct regular security awareness campaigns to reinforce a proactive security posture.
  • Identify potential risks and develop proactive measures to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement secure architecture for the organisation’s digital infrastructure, systems, and applications.
  • Stay abreast of emerging cyber threats, trends, and technologies to ensure the effectiveness of the security program.
  • Identify and engage key stakeholders through open communication and discussions, serving as a central point of contact. Develop, maintain, and execute stakeholder engagement strategies and plans to foster effective collaboration and maintain strong relationships. Provides informed feedback to assess and promote understanding.
  • Seek cost reductions through consolidation and optimisation of resources and systems
  • Develop and execute a robust cyber security strategy aligned with the organisation’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Ensures that all stakeholders adhere to the strategic management approach and timetables.
  • Collates information and creates reports and insights to support strategy management processes.
  • Contributes to the development of policies, standards and guidelines for strategy development and planning.

Salary Information

We offer an attractive annual salary range of AU$120,000 - AU$180,000 depending on experience, plus additional benefits.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field.
  • Advanced degrees and relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA) are highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience (7+ years) in cyber security management, including leading security programs in complex organisations.
  • Strong knowledge of cyber security principles, technologies, and best practices.
  • In-depth understanding of security frameworks, standards, and regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR).
  • Proven experience in incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and risk assessment.
  • Experience in shifting IT groups' maturity in governance, risk, compliance and adherence to process.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of emerging cyber threats, trends, and technologies.
  • Able to influence across a Leadership team and adhere to the highest ethical standards.
  • Proven customer focus, interpersonal and communications skills to ensure consistent messages are communicated to internal customers / stakeholders.
