We are seeking an experienced Distribution Network Designer to join our team of world-leading experts at South Metro Depot in Forrestdale. This permanent full-time opportunity will be instrumental in shaping our clean energy future.

About the Role

This pivotal role will require the successful candidate to undertake complex technical tasks associated with design, construction, and maintenance of Western Power or customer facilities connected to the Distribution Network. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing accurate estimates for projects encompassing materials, labor, sub-contract services, and costing for work associated with construction activities and commissioning on single/basic circuits and associated apparatus or services.
  • Completing all documentation, ordering of materials, entering, and maintaining information in applicable computer systems, ensuring business processes are adhered to.
  • Undertaking contract administration to ensure contractor compliance to design and specifications and identify non-conformances of contractors; review designs, work performance, works programs.
  • Responding to correspondence and queries raised by customers, construction, and maintenance crews, and other stakeholders on quotes issued via DQM.
  • Ensuring all variations to projects, procedures, programs, and processes are documented.
  • Preparing management reports for submission to the Team Leader.
  • Scheduling and planning own daily and weekly allocated work in order to meet agreed targets.
  • Providing technical support to project management plans and other work groups.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Western Power standard, quality, legal, and contractual requirements.
Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Diploma/Advanced Diploma in a relevant electrical discipline.
  • At least 6-7 years' post-qualification experience in distribution network-related activities with a thorough knowledge of principles of the relevant discipline and a sound understanding of the methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of Distribution Engineering standards, regulations, and procedures applicable to the Section and Stream is necessary.
  • Sound IT skills in required programs and systems.
  • The ability to complete project/assignment within specific guidelines.
  • Demonstrated skill in priority setting, activity planning, and organizing.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining work standards.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and conflict-resolving skills.
  • Able to identify and develop methods, processes, and systems for continuous improvement.

Western Power offers a competitive salary of approximately $110,000 - $140,000 per annum, plus 11% superannuation. Additionally, we provide:
