Job Summary

CloudHQ International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cost Manager to join our Development & Construction team in the European region. As a critical member of our team, you will play a key role in commercially managing all projects in the region, from land acquisition to final payments and agreement of the final accounts and paperwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all commercial matters on CloudHQ European projects, including reporting on any issues on a regular basis.
  • Commercially manage the General Contractor(s) from RFP documents through to the final payments and agreement of the final accounts and paperwork.
  • Commercially manage all other program vendors, including Architect/Engineer, Commissioning, Inspections, Project Management (PM), CM, QRA.
  • Work with the external PM, CM, Contractors, and CloudHQ Finance to ensure that cost reports are updated and available for review monthly.
  • Provide commercial support necessary to ascertain the required timing of the funding intervals and all commercial information required to support these funding requests.
  • Review and develop commercial processes in the region into a standard operating procedure (SoP) and commercial workflow.
  • Work with our site selection team in the region to provide site-specific comparative estimates on candidate sites.
  • Provide commercial support on business cases, value engineering studies, and change control as the design evolves.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree, Engineering, Construction, or similar related field. Relevant experience in lieu of a degree considered.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience as a construction estimator, cost consultant, or cost manager. Data Center experience preferred.
  • Background in complex commercial, pharmaceutical, or high-tech development preferred if no data center experience.

Desirable Skills and Abilities

  • Deep commercial knowledge of construction costs in the European region.
  • Strong experience managing the estimating or commercials on a major construction program.
  • Working knowledge of construction contracts used in Europe.
  • Deep knowledge of the commercial management role in the procurement of general contracts and other construction vendors.
  • Good communication skills, ability to collaborate with all other areas of the data center program, be able to think strategically, ability to build trust.
  • Good understanding of data analysis methods and KPIs.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, specifically Excel.
  • Critical thinker and problem solver.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and effectively.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with a team, as well as work independently applying individual expertise.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interface directly with clients.
  • Willingness to travel locally, nationally, and internationally on a regular basis.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment, with regular need to work outside of normal business hours due to global business needs.
