Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a senior geologist to join our team in designing the Snowy 2.0 hydro project in NSW, Australia.

  • The successful candidate will prepare and review geological reports, sections and other documents for design purposes.
  • Liaise with the Lombardi Engineering management team, client safety officers, tunnel inspectors, security guards, section engineers and surveyors to ensure the safety of staff during geology field works and mapping.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as requested by the Lombardi Engineering management or Lead Resident Design Engineer.
  • Oversee and conduct tunnels, shafts, cavern and access adits and portals geological mapping.
  • Assess ground conditions and behaviors in response to surface and underground excavations.
  • Review geological mapping, instrumentation and monitoring documents, geotechnical testing results and other relevant documents.
  • Advise on tunnel excavation and support methods, rock/soil support, fissure/consolidation/backfill/cavity grouting and lab/in-situ testing.
  • Conduct geological/geotechnical investigation and data interpretation for drill and blast and TBM excavations, shafts, caverns and tunnel portals.
  • Review and approve as-built geological drawings for D&B/TBM tunnels, gate shafts, caverns and tunnels.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of twenty years of industry experience in ground investigation, D&B/TBM tunnel excavation and support, caverns, shafts, adits and surface excavation and support.
  • A degree in engineering geology or equivalent, and preferably professional registration status.
  • Familiarity with tunnelling observational methods such as drill and blast, NATM and TBM tunnelling.
  • Knowledge of advanced tunnel/underground geological software and systems.
  • A valid driving license.
