The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and maintaining actuarial reserving processes to comply with regulatory requirements and best practices. They will also be responsible for reviewing monitoring processes to support the reserving function, collaborating with underwriting, finance and claims to gather relevant insights for reserving, and preparing regulatory reporting deliverables.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain actuarial reserving processes to comply with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Review and improve monitoring processes to support the reserving function.
- Collaborate with underwriting, finance and claims teams to gather relevant insights for reserving.
- Prepare regulatory reporting deliverables.
- Engage with external auditors and review actuaries' work.
- Support the Finance team in reporting insurance liabilities under Australian and US GAAP.
- Maintain suitable financial projections for the business.
- Support capital management processes for the ICAAP.
- Undertake ad hoc investigations into specific areas or topics of interest where actuarial advice is required.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of actuarial valuation techniques and processes, with a view on best practices.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Ability to deliver results under tight deadlines and competing objectives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with SAS, Snowflake, Python or R is preferred.
- Robust interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined, international team.
- Working knowledge of Australian GAAP accounting for insurance and reinsurance.
- Orientation towards results, curiosity, integrity, and self-direction.
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years of prior experience working in general insurance (with significant experience in valuations) is strongly preferred.
- Experience in LMI would be highly regarded but is not essential.
