Job Description

As a trusted advisor to the Retail Operations division of the Chief Operations Office, you will play a critical role in strengthening risk and compliance capabilities and uplifting the control environment across Everyday Banking Operations.

This is a dynamic, fast-paced role offering an excellent opportunity for experienced operational risk professionals to broaden their impact across a new business area, particularly in retail banking or home lending environments.

You will be responsible for delivering Line 1 risk advisory services across:

  • Risk Advisory & Change Management
  • Operational Risk & Compliance
  • Risk Reporting & Governance

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and owning risk assessments for business and product change initiatives under the Change Management Risk Standard (CMRS)
  • Advising on emerging risks and control implications, ensuring risk mitigations are embedded early and influencing cross-functional stakeholders with clear, actionable risk advice
  • Performing and leading proactive risk identification initiatives, such as risk deep dives
  • Designing, implementing, and assessing controls aligned to operational and compliance risk frameworks
  • Driving control uplift initiatives and supporting control assurance activities and maintaining compliance arrangements and obligations, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and industry codes
  • Leading structured root cause analysis and resolution planning for incidents, and conducting Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA) and Compliance Self Assessments (CSA)
  • Drafting reports and delivering insights through dashboards and trend analysis to inform senior stakeholders and governance forums
  • Enhancing data quality across systems and supporting external assurance activities (Line 2 reviews, audits)
