Job Title: Director, Environmental Conservation and Head of Australia Operations

The Pew Charitable Trusts is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director to lead our Environmental Conservation program in Australia. As the Head of Australia Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the program's objectives, managing staff and contractors, and developing strategic partnerships to advance our conservation goals.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join a leading environmental organization and make a significant impact on conservation efforts in Australia. As a Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing programmatic oversight for the Environmental Conservation program in Australia
  • Designing and implementing successful campaigns and initiatives that achieve measurable goals and targets
  • Leading and managing a diverse team of project directors and staff across Australia
  • Fostering a healthy and dynamic team culture that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive
  • Cultivating and sustaining a significant public profile for Pew and the Environmental Conservation program in Australia
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with conservation organizations, industry, Indigenous groups, and government officials

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as environmental science, conservation biology, or a related field
  • At least 10 years of experience in conservation advocacy, program management, or a related field
  • Expertise in biodiversity conservation and management, environmental advocacy, and terrestrial, freshwater, and marine protection in Australia
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in staff and project management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex, matrixed organization
