Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior BMS Applications Engineer will spearhead the engineering execution of projects throughout all phases, from design to commissioning, with a primary emphasis on Building Management projects. The role encompasses various sectors, including VAE Mechanical projects, commercial infrastructures, governmental initiatives, and renovations. You will liaise with both internal and external stakeholders, including Project Managers, Mechanical Contractors, Builders, and Suppliers, to ensure seamless project delivery.

Key duties include:

  • Engaging in sales design assessments, analyzing project specifications, and generating sales forecasts.
  • Assessing client sites for installation requirements, designing installations, and preparing condition reports.
  • Designing, implementing, and documenting Building Management System (BMS) controls.
  • Creating functional descriptions, specifications, points lists, schedules, system architectures, and other configurations.
  • Drafting construction correspondence such as submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Planning and scheduling project execution, providing updates on all assigned tasks, and demonstrating the ability to work autonomously.
  • Providing technical support to project team members.
  • Documenting and communicating all technical issues or risks to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensuring timely completion and documentation of the project's commissioning, testing, and final adjustments.
  • Managing the engineering-related budget.
  • Coordinating with subcontractors and overseeing all technical aspects of assigned projects.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in similar roles, a robust understanding of HVAC principles and equipment, and BMS controls, along with the following qualifications:

  • Over 5 years of BMS/HVAC project experience in the construction or service sector.
  • Tertiary or trade qualification in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Control Systems, or Computer Science (or a related field).
  • Experience in integrating systems with electrical, hydraulic, fire, vertical transport, security, CCTV, mechanical, IT, and other systems using BACnet, MODBus, LON, OPC, SNMP, API, MQTT, and web services.
  • Familiarity with IP Networks / ICT systems in relevant applications.
  • Experience in coding applications and macros using VB or similar (desirable).
  • Commercial application of design to meet client specifications and budget constraints.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience with Tridium Niagara (preferred) or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with DISTECH Controls (desirable).
  • Possession of a Restricted Electrical Licence.
  • Valid Driver's Licence.
  • Proficiency in all MS Office applications.
