Real Estate Credit Risk Leader

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Real Estate Credit Risk Leader to lead the development and execution of credit risk management for our real estate portfolio.

This critical role will oversee risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards, while driving business growth in an evolving market.

The ideal candidate is an analytical thinker with expertise in credit risk management specific to the real estate industry, including commercial and residential sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Oversee Comprehensive Credit Risk Management Frameworks: Establish frameworks to manage the company's real estate investments.
  • Analyse and Assess Creditworthiness: Use data-driven methods and tools to assess the creditworthiness of potential investments, clients, and counterparties.
  • Monitor Portfolio Performance: Provide actionable insights on emerging risks to senior management.
  • Partner with Internal Teams: Structure transactions aligned with corporate risk appetite.
  • Design Metrics and Models: Create metrics, models, and reporting frameworks for continuous assessment of credit risk.
  • Present Findings: Deliver detailed presentations and reports to leadership on portfolio performance, risk exposure, and market trends.
  • Stay Ahead of Industry Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with industry best practices around credit risk management and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field (Master's degree or relevant certifications such as CFA, FRM preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in credit risk management, preferably within the real estate sector.
  • Credit Analysis Tools: Strong command of credit analysis tools, modelling, and methodologies for evaluating complex real estate portfolios.
  • Market Dynamics: Excellent understanding of market dynamics, lending principles, and investment analytics in real estate.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills to collaborate with teams and present findings effectively.
  • Risk Management: Proven ability to balance business development goals with risk management safeguards.
  • Risk Modelling Software: Proficiency in risk modelling software, Microsoft Excel, and data interpretation tools.
