Job Title: Lead Health, Safety

We are seeking a technically skilled Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to drive health, safety and environmental excellence across our operations.

This role demands a strong technical foundation, sound judgement, and the ability to influence at all levels. You will lead toolbox talks, mentor operational teams, and partner with stakeholders to embed a proactive, learning-focused safety culture.

About the Role
  • Provide expert advice on health, safety and environmental matters to support business decisions.
  • Develop and implement HSE protocols tailored to specialised operational contexts, ensuring alignment with Defence and Commonwealth standards.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor and train junior staff in HSE practices and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct risk assessments and incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Advise on HSE considerations throughout the asset lifecycle, from capability planning and procurement to sustainment.
  • Analyse HSE data to identify emerging trends and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement effective HSE policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
  • AQF Level 4 Qualification or Equivalent in the Field of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Risk Management or a transferable engineering-related qualification.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within Defence or other high-risk industries.
  • Strong understanding of relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Proficient in root cause analysis and incident investigation methodologies (e.g. ICAM, Kelvin TOP-SET, TapRooT).
