Electrical Design Lead

We are seeking an experienced electrical engineer to support major projects in the mining, metals, and energy sectors. This is a senior role that requires strong leadership skills and experience in delivering electrical engineering design, studies, and technical support across all project phases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and contribute to the design, development, and modification of electrical systems and components.
  • Carry out system studies including short circuit, load flow, motor starting, voltage drop, relay protection coordination, arc flash, and earthing.
  • Prepare and review single line diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, equipment lists, and material take-offs.
  • Support procurement through equipment sizing, specifications, bid evaluations, and vendor document reviews.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, clients, vendors, and contractors to resolve technical issues and ensure project alignment.
  • Participate in model reviews (30%, 50%, 90%) and contribute to risk assessments such as HAZID and HAZOP.
  • Provide input into construction support, regulatory compliance, and project execution planning.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5-12 years' relevant experience in FEED, proposals, and detailed design—preferably within EPC or large industrial projects.
  • Strong background in Australian mining, metals, or oil & gas projects.
  • Proficient in ETAP or DIgSILENT for electrical studies.
  • Familiar with AS/NZS 3000 and relevant industry codes.
  • Full Australian work rights.
  • Skilled in both independent and collaborative project delivery, with focus on schedule and budget compliance.
