About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Inspector to join our team at Western Power. As an Electrical Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of consumer installations connected to our network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct complex inspections, investigations, and auditing activities to ensure compliance with Western Power's Inspection System Plan and regulatory obligations.
  • Utilize extensive technical and electrical knowledge and skills to identify and address potential safety risks.
  • Provide specialist technical advice to Western Power network personnel and facilitate industry discussions to communicate legislative changes to electrical contractors and their workers.
  • Maintain Designation as Electrical Inspector by fully understanding Western Power's Network connection requirements, WA Electrical Requirements, AS/NZS Wiring Rules, and related standards, statutory Network's legislation, and Inspect System Plan requirements.
Requirements
  • Current Electrical Workers License.
  • Eligibility to be designated as an Inspector (Electrical).
  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations (must be completed within 12 months of commencing position).
  • Certificate of Energy Coordination Act 1994, Electricity Act 1945 (must be obtained within 12 months of commencing position).
  • National Police Certificate.
  • Possess Cert III (ESI Distribution / Transmission Overhead / Power Systems Distribution Cable Jointing) and/or Electrical Trade Certificate and hold a current WA Electrical Workers License.
  • Min 6 to 8 years demonstrated post-trade experience within the electrical industry, specifically in domestic, light & heavy industrial and commercial work. Hold all appropriate industry licences or certificates of competency in accordance with the Energy Safety Act 2006.
  • Detailed working knowledge of AS3000 and West Australian Electrical requirements.
  • Excellent external stakeholder management skills and experience.
  • Experience in electrical metering and/or installation practices, regulations, and procedures.
  • Competent in the utilisation of MS Office Suite and scheduling/work management systems.
