Visual Storyteller Role Overview

We are seeking a talented Photographer to join our dynamic team in Adelaide, contributing to our mission of delivering high-quality journalism and engaging content to our readers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture high-quality photographs and video footage for news stories, features, and events across various subjects, including breaking news, sports, culture, and community events.
  • Collaborate with reporters, editors, and other team members to conceptualize and execute visual storytelling.
  • Edit and enhance photos and video content using industry-standard software to ensure they meet publication standards.
  • Stay current with photography and videography trends and techniques, bringing fresh ideas and creativity to the team.
  • Manage and maintain photography equipment, ensuring all gear is in optimal condition.
  • Adhere to deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Engage with the community and build relationships to identify and capture unique stories.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a photographer, preferably in a journalistic setting.
  • Proficiency in video shooting and basic editing skills.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of photography styles and subjects.
  • Familiarity with photo and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong understanding of visual storytelling and the ability to convey narratives through images and video.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region as required.
