Job Summary:

We are seeking an accomplished Lead Botanist to join our team and lead field-based ecology survey work, including baseline surveys, monitoring programs, and targeted flora and weed assessments across various bioregions.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in environmental science, ecology, biology or similar, 7-10+ years professional experience in botanical surveys, with a strong focus on ecological consulting, vegetation assessments, or related fieldwork.

  • Coordinate and lead field-based ecology survey work, including baseline surveys, monitoring programs, and targeted flora and weed assessments across various bioregions.
  • Lead and manage ecological projects, supporting internal clients with multi-disciplinary tenders and deliverables.
  • Plan, deliver, and analyse ecology surveys independently or collaboratively, performing impact assessments and designing mitigation strategies.

About the Role:

You will coordinate and lead field-based ecology survey work, including baseline surveys, monitoring programs, and targeted flora and weed assessments across various bioregions.

The role involves leading and managing ecological projects, supporting internal clients with multi-disciplinary tenders and deliverables, and planning, delivering, and analysing ecology surveys independently or collaboratively, performing impact assessments and designing mitigation strategies.

Requirements:

  • Degree in environmental science, ecology, biology or similar
  • 7-10+ years professional experience in botanical surveys, with a strong focus on ecological consulting, vegetation assessments, or related fieldwork
  • Excellent field skills and experience conducting surveys in various environments, including mining, remote, and Perth Metro areas
  • Strong technical reporting skills proficiency in GIS desktop and data collection packages (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS and Fieldmaps)
  • WA driving licence and ability to work outdoors on short and extended field programs
