Emergency Department Physiotherapist Role

This challenging and rewarding role involves working as a Primary Contact Emergency Department Physiotherapist in an acute care setting, providing high-quality physiotherapy services to patients presenting to the emergency department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and treatments for patients with complex and chronic conditions.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based clinical policies and procedures to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic patient care.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff members and students.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy is essential.
  • Current General Physiotherapy Registration under AHPRA is required.
  • Significant clinical experience in Physiotherapy, particularly in emergency departments, is highly valued.
  • Extensive post-graduate clinical experience in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and other areas is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills are necessary.

This position places a focus on the patients' needs and experiences to plan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within the ED environment for complex, comorbid and social presentations along with supporting existing medical, nursing and community teams.

The successful applicant will have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality health care services to the community. The role requires a collaborative and proactive approach to working with multidisciplinary teams to achieve excellent patient outcomes.
