Job Description

This role is situated within the Therapeutic Residential Care (TRC) Program, which provides intensive and time-limited care for children or young people in statutory care. The program aims to address the complex impacts of abuse, neglect, and separation from family.

The TRC Program focuses on creating positive, safe, healing relationships and experiences informed by a sound understanding of trauma, attachment, and developmental needs.

The Therapeutic Specialist will provide therapeutic leadership and trauma-informed interventions based on sound practice expertise and contemporary research, delivering positive outcomes for vulnerable children and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement therapeutic plans that address the complex needs of children and families.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to promote emotional healing and well-being.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, as well as an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and their families.
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline.
  • Current registration as a psychologist with the relevant regulatory body.
  • Post-graduate training in relevant child, adolescent, and family clinical practice, family therapy, and systemic thinking.
