City of Manningham, Australia Kevin Heinze Grow Full time
About Kevin Heinze Grow

Kevin Heinze Grow (KHG) is a leading not-for-profit organisation operating for over four decades in the therapeutic horticulture sector. Our mission is to empower individuals with disabilities by providing evidence-based programs and services within a peaceful, natural garden setting.

We foster a social model of disability, supporting people to navigate their lives and engage with others as they wish. Our highly qualified multidisciplinary team delivers individualised creative sessions incorporating our nature-based environment to promote confidence, resilience, and effective communication.

The Role Overview

This position is primarily responsible for delivering speech therapy services to individuals with disabilities, many of whom are participants in the National Disability Insurance Scheme. The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to work creatively within KHG's garden environment, leveraging our nature-based setting to deliver high-quality therapeutic outcomes.

The emphasis of this role is on collaborating with participants to develop personal communication goals and preferences, understanding how these may change across different settings. We value and encourage all participants to explore and use their preferred communication methods, extending opportunities through individual sessions and KHG program involvement.

The ideal candidate will also have the ability to support and create opportunities for the broader KHG staff team to gain confidence in using various communication techniques, enhancing inclusivity within our programs. A key member of our multi-disciplinary team, including occupational therapy, counselling, and art therapy, you will contribute to programme development focusing on individual needs and evolving techniques related to communication inclusivity.
