About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team at the Department of Veterans Affairs. As a key member of our Open Arms Division, you will provide high-quality clinical services to current and formerly serving Australian Defence Force personnel, their partners and families.

Job Description

This is an ongoing position that offers a competitive salary range $103,672 - $123,247 per annum, plus superannuation and annual leave loading.

The successful candidate will work within a dynamic team providing clinical services including risk assessment and intervention, referral, evidence-based individual, couple and family counselling, and case management to eligible Open Arms clients.

You will be required to maintain confidential files for each client, schedule and attend Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, and adhere to relevant legislation, ethical guidelines, and policies pertaining to best-practice client care.

Requirements
  • AHPRA registration as a Psychologist or Provisional Registration / Mental Health Occupational Therapist / Mental Health Registered Nurse with full AHPRA registration;
  • Social Worker eligibility for membership of the Australian Association Social Workers (AASW) and eligibility to apply for Mental Health accreditation; or
  • Counsellor qualification with a minimum Level 4 Australian Counselling Association registration;

As a member of the Australian Public Service, you will be subject to a probation period and must meet the security requirements of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
