Job Description

This is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the Air Imports team in Melbourne and Adelaide. The successful candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in global freight forwarding operations, with a minimum of 4 years of experience in leading and managing teams.

The primary responsibilities of this role include outlining employee role accountabilities, prioritizing and delegating work, monitoring results, and providing regular coaching to ensure productivity, quality, efficiency, and service objectives are achieved.

The ideal candidate will be able to build, manage, and foster a team-oriented environment, with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate to both internal and external audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Outline and communicate employee role accountabilities and expectations.
  2. Prioritize and delegate work, monitor results, and provide regular coaching.
  3. Conduct regular check-ins and annual performance management routines.
  4. Support the team's personal and professional development.
  5. Clearly communicate operations objectives and team/individual performance metrics.
  6. Work with next-level manager to drive effective change management and employee adoption of new tools, technology, processes, and/or expectations.
  7. Participate in recruitment, selection, promotion, and alignment of qualified and diverse talent.
  8. Support annual merit and equity programs for assigned team.
  9. Encourage employee feedback through formal and informal channels.
  10. Optimize daily workflow to achieve quality and efficiency goals.
  11. Act as an escalation point for exceptions and problem resolution.
  12. Communicate and ensure employee understanding of policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  13. Ensure team's understanding of available tools and systems to improve work processes and automation.
  14. Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders.
  15. Foster a culture of teamwork and high-quality service.
  16. Adhere to operational excellence with respect to timeliness and audit KPIs.
  17. Prepare operational performance reports.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or Graduate Degree/equivalent.
  2. Minimum 10 years of global freight forwarding operations experience.
  3. Minimum 4+ years of experience leading and managing teams.
