
Comprehensive Mental Health Services for Young People

As a Primary Care Mental Health Clinician, you will work in a state-of-the-art health facility providing primary healthcare to young people in custody. Your role will involve delivering best practice culture and processes that enhance the outcomes for young people in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide primary health-level assessment, treatment and recovery-based interventions to young people in custody.
- Deliver harm reduction services and education, including manualised AOD programs, to groups and individual young people in custody.
- Facilitate holistic care by providing appropriate support, linkages and referrals for young people both across the facility and for them to access upon release.
- Engage staff in community development and capacity building activities, with a focus on trauma-informed care, recovery-oriented care and other contemporary mental health and AOD trends.
Requirements:
- Formal professionally recognised qualifications in Psychiatric Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Clinical Psychology, and AHPRA registration where required.
- Ability to meet security checks required by the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
- Demonstrated high level of clinical skills in the assessment, treatment and continuing care of young people with mental health and AOD disorders.
- Able to maintain effective working relationships and clinical service delivery in an environment characterised by competing demands.
- Understanding of and commitment to the principles and systems of continuous improvement in the access to and delivery of mental health and AOD services.
