**Job Summary:**

The Assistant Gardener will assist the Parks and Garden Team with various tasks including watering, pruning, weeding, sweeping, mulching, fertilising, mowing, spraying and planting. This involves operating Council equipment & vehicles such as ride on mowers, trucks, manual and mechanical cutting tools, tractors and implements, Elevated Work Platforms. You will also contribute to planting initiatives & tree maintenance, provide friendly service & complete customer requests, maintain vehicles, equipment, and tools, and assist with the repair maintenance and operation of irrigation systems, playgrounds, and recreation equipment.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Assist with gardening duties including watering, pruning, weeding, sweeping, mulching, fertilising, mowing, spraying and planting
  • Operate Council equipment & vehicles including ride on mowers, trucks, manual and mechanical cutting tools, tractors and implements, Elevated Work Platforms
  • Contribute to planting initiatives & tree maintenance
  • Provide friendly service & complete customer requests
  • Maintain vehicles, equipment, and tools
  • Assist with the repair maintenance and operation of irrigation systems, playgrounds, and recreation equipment

**Requirements:**

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Heavy Rigid Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Experience in horticultural maintenance
  • Knowledge of plant and equipment used in horticultural services
  • The ability to work cooperatively in a team and prioritise tasks
  • Physically fit to perform gardening duties
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

**What We Offer:**
