About The Role

Our client, a prominent player in the engineering sector, is looking for an Electrical BOP Resident Engineer for a significant pump storage hydroelectric project in Australia. This role is crucial as our client leads the joint venture responsible for the comprehensive design of the underground Power Station.

Situated in Cooma, you will be an integral part of the resident joint venture team, focusing on the Balance of Plant (BOP) packages. This position presents a unique opportunity to engage with international teams, manage intricate interfaces, and contribute to one of Australia's most important hydroelectric initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Revise deliverables in accordance with feedback from the Client/Employer, with assistance from the Head Office (HO) team.
  2. Engage in finalizing comments on Design Deliverables, coordinating with production teams located in Europe.
  3. Work collaboratively with civil engineering design teams to manage internal interfaces with BOP design.
  4. Oversee BOP interfaces with other design professionals.
  5. Participate in both internal and external technical meetings to address feedback.
  6. Take part in resolution meetings and workshops concerning technical feedback.
  7. Manage responses to bidders' inquiries/comments as requested by the Client, with support from the HO team.
  8. Assist in preparing tender analysis reports as per the Client's request.
  9. Handle post-IFC design modifications for minor changes requested by the Client/Employer, coordinating with the HO team for significant changes.
  10. Review and authorize 'Manufacturing Drawings'.

Electrical BOP Scope Includes

  1. Single line diagrams (LV distribution)
  2. Installation of equipment and routing
  3. Electrical panel design
  4. Routing drawings
  5. Cable lists and calculations
  6. Lighting design
  7. Power Balance management
  8. Interface management

Note: The position is primarily based in Cooma. However, depending on the Client's requirements and project planning, the role may transition to the construction site, evolving into the Electrical BOP Site Resident Engineer to supervise the installation of BOP equipment.

Prerequisites

  1. Educational Background: Master's degree in electrical engineering.
  2. Experience: A minimum of 5 years in a relevant field.
  3. Key Competencies: Proficiency in low voltage electricity, independence, teamwork, effective communication, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong technical curiosity.
  4. Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Office suite, AutoCAD. Additional software knowledge is advantageous: REVIT MEP, Naviswork, Dialux, Caneco BT.
  5. Sectoral Experience: Previous experience in electricity production, preferably in hydroelectric power.
  6. Language Proficiency: Fluent in English.
