Job Overview

This role entails designing the electrical power distribution system for auxiliary equipment in Gas Turbine projects.

Main responsibilities include working with low-voltage systems (600V and below) that involve MCCs, Panelboards, LV Transformers, DC Systems, and Batteries.

  • Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Create detailed electrical designs, including single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical loads lists, motors lists, wiring diagrams, control schematics, cable schedules, and termination schedules.
  2. Perform calculations for sizing equipment (breakers, overload devices, relays), cables, conduits, equipment spacing, illumination levels, and maintain Bills of Materials.
  3. Develop and review electrical, control, and instrumentation wiring diagrams and cable lists generated by software like SmartPlant Electrical or SmartPlant Instrumentation.
  4. Prepare purchase specifications for electrical equipment and select vendors for electrical packages.
  5. Generate electrical drawing packages to document system logic, wiring, and interactions.
  6. Interpret and design according to code requirements (NEC/NFPA 70, CEC, IEC, ISA, AGA, etc.) and investigate applicable electrical codes.
  7. Coordinate with vendors to ensure technical and schedule requirements are met.
  8. Interpret and incorporate design requirements from parent companies.
  9. Respond to technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel.
  10. Utilize software like SmartPlant Electrical for designing electrical power and control systems; experience with similar database-driven software is a plus.
  • Other Responsibilities:
  • Possess knowledge of electrical design systems for industrial facilities.
  • Experience with power plants, especially with generators (150 MVA and above) for Gas or Steam Turbines, is preferred.
  • Foster a safe work environment and report any unsafe activities.
  • Contribute to team efforts and participate in creating a positive workplace culture.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Manage multiple assignments to meet project deadlines.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Evaluate quality by following work instructions and identifying potential risks.
  • Develop and coordinate project design schedules.
  • Simplify designs to improve manufacturability and reduce costs without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering teams on product development projects.
  • Meet project schedule requirements.
  • Provide technical support during manufacturing and commissioning.
  • Lead junior engineers and interns.
  • Travel up to 10%.
