Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Aboriginal Education Worker to join our team as a Cultural Education Ambassador. This part-time position will involve working closely with school leadership to implement the Diocesan Action Plan for the Education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Duties and Responsibilities- Acting as a role model for students by encouraging them to take pride in their cultural identity and education.
- Promoting a sense of welcome and belonging within the school community, fostering respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders' culture.
- Supporting schools in understanding and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's knowledge, skills, and traditions.
- Raising expectations and enhancing student learning through individualized plans that incorporate cultural, curriculum, and career goals.
- Developing partnerships with local Aboriginal communities, families, and schools to create a culturally respectful and valued environment.
- Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, with documented confirmation required at interview.
- Hold a current Working with Children Check clearance.
- Compliance with the Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead Policy upon appointment.
- Identified Position.
- The ability to foster and maintain Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Spirituality while enhancing Catholic Church values and ethos.
- Building positive relationships with students, staff, and community members to advocate for the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families.
- Working with school leadership to build cultural capacity and quality partnerships with local Aboriginal communities.
- Sound literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Ability to work effectively with small groups and collaborate with teachers in the classroom.
$65,000 - $75,000 per annum, depending on experience.
About the RoleThis part-time position (27.75 hours per week) is available immediately. The successful candidate will be required to work collaboratively with the school leadership team to achieve our organizational goals.
