Our Service

Safe Space is a fantastic program that provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress. This allows them to:

  • Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department for low risk individuals
  • Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community, outside a clinical setting.
Job Overview

This part-time opportunity (0.8FTE), fixed-term until November 2025, offers a competitive salary package and benefits including meals and entertainment allowance of up to $2650, leave loading at 17.5% and Stride Rewards – access to discounts from hundreds of retailers.

You will work collaboratively across health service networks to plan and coordinate individualised psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of people with mental health issues based on a case formulation approach.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide comprehensive assessment, brief and ongoing interventions, risk management and care planning
  2. Work cooperatively and effectively through active participation within the multidisciplinary mental health team, the profession specific network and with consumers, families/carers and extended agencies
Requirements
  • Must have General AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist OR Mental Health Nurse OR AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
  • Demonstrated a comprehensive level of knowledge, expertise and skill; specifically, Brief Intervention Models of Care Commitment to professional development and willingness to participate in a continuous learning environment
  • Well-developed judgment and evaluation skills demonstrating a working understanding assessment and care planning
  • Sound understanding of the public, non-government and private mental health systems and programs and associated non-mental health programs in a community setting
  • Ideally demonstrated experience in providing alcohol and other drugs (AOD) counselling and support
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with people who have or are at risk of developing a mental illness
  • Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated skills in organisation and time-management, including the ability to work under pressure and balance multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a Blue Card
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
