Job Overview
Coronado Global Resources is a leading mining company seeking an experienced Commercial Director to drive and shape the long-term strategy and future of contract management within our Australian operations. This pivotal role at the intersection of business operations and commercial strategy directly impacts our long-term success.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of complex contract management and negotiation, as well as experience in safeguarding and maximising the value of assets and partnerships.
About The Role
In this high-impact position, you will:
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to identify procurement and service requirements, ensuring effective supply analysis/strategy, supplier identification, sourcing execution, contract negotiation, delivery planning and monitoring.
- Lead a team of senior sourcing and procurement professionals to ensure centralised direct and indirect sourcing and procurement outcomes.
- Establish relationships with senior budget holders to align procurement with their objectives and support supply base improvement efforts.
- Develop and execute the procurement strategy, increasing spend under management, and identifying best practices to transform organisational capability and value delivery.
- Manage business contract risk oversight, performance and reporting.
- Manage business process outsourcing activities.
- Identify cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities.
- Select and manage procurement systems.
- Lead the procurement team in sourcing, contracting, transactional purchasing, supplier management, and internal procurement support activities.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- Extensive senior supply management and operational experience.
- A working knowledge of finance and/or accounting, including budgeting, cost management, financial accounting, treasury and risk management.
- In-depth knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as an understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk.
- A proven track record in inspiring and leading a high-performing team, aligning their efforts with the company's long-term strategic goals and navigating through complexities.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills for large-scale commercial deals.
- An analytical mindset, but also creativity to seek non-traditional approaches that have historically 'boxed-in' procurement.
- A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.

This opportunity offers:
- Competitive Salary Package: A comprehensive remuneration package, including short-term and long-term performance-based incentives.
- Impactful Role: Be a critical part of a leading mining company shaping supply chain strategy on a large scale.
- Career Growth: Work in a dynamic environment that encourages personal and professional growth.
