Job Title:

Senior Regional Environmental Health Officer

Job Description

This role undertakes specialist public and environmental health regulatory duties in remote, rural, and Aboriginal communities throughout South Australia.

The successful candidate will ensure proper standards of public and environmental health are maintained in accordance with relevant public health legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct food safety inspections and audits to protect the community
  • Approve and inspect wastewater systems to maintain a safe environment
  • Regulate and inspect public swimming pools to prevent waterborne diseases
  • Prevent legionella and associated disease risk in high-risk manufactured water systems
  • Perform other environmental health-related functions as required
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • An appropriate qualification as an environmental health officer (EHO)
  • Certification as a National Food Safety Auditor Level 4 or willingness to undertake the necessary training for certification upon employment
  • A driver's licence Class C (Car) is essential for extensive travel
Working Conditions

This role involves working in remote areas, requiring extended regional trips, including extensive driving on highways and unsealed roads. Out-of-hours work and overnight absences will be required.
