Airservices Australia is driving innovation in aerodrome management through Digital Aerodrome Services (DAS) at Canberra and Western Sydney airports. As a Safety Manager, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of aviation safety.

About the Role

The DAS Operational Safety Manager position requires a highly skilled professional to lead the development and implementation of safety strategies, manage risk, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Your expertise will be pivotal in creating a safe and efficient working environment for our staff and stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities
  • Safety Strategy Development: Design and implement safety plans, develop safety arguments, and conduct hazard identification and risk analysis.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate operational safety risks associated with system and process changes, ensuring they align with Airservices' risk tolerance levels.
  • Safety Expertise: Provide leadership and technical support to ensure that changes to systems and processes comply with Airservices' Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Regulatory Engagement: Collaborate with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to obtain risk acceptance, approvals, and non-objections.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification in system safety, engineering, WHS, or a related field.
  • Experience in regulatory engagement, safety case development, and operational safety.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices, including SFARIP and ALARP methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
