About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Medical Administration Officer to join our team at Icon Cancer Centre Australia. As a key member of our administration team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our cancer care services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional administrative support to our medical team, including coordinating appointments, managing patient records, and handling billing and insurance claims.
  • Be the warm and friendly face that welcomes patients and collects their details, ensuring a positive experience for our patients and their families.
  • Coordinate and schedule critical treatment appointments, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of care.
  • Manage and triage referrals for surgery, radiation, and medical oncology treatments, working closely with our medical team to ensure seamless care.
  • Answer patient queries with empathy, both in person and over the phone, providing reassurance and support during what can be an emotional and challenging time.
  • Ensure all billing is processed accurately and handle daily banking with precision, maintaining the highest level of financial integrity.
  • Track patient progress through their treatment, making sure administrative needs are handled smoothly and efficiently.
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date patient records, ensuring accurate and timely access to patient information.
  • Coordinate routine and unexpected maintenance tasks to keep the site running smoothly, working closely with our site manager and contractors as needed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a hospital, medical practice, or day procedure reception, with a strong understanding of medical reception and radiation oncology.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Competence with Windows-based programs, including email and word processing software.
  • Basic knowledge of medical billing and health insurance claims, including Medicare, Private Health Insurance, and DVA.
