About the Role:
The Medical Scientist will be responsible for performing a range of complex tests in cytogenetics, molecular genetics or biochemical genetics to diagnose cancer and non-cancer related disorders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pathology and be able to analyze results and provide appropriate interpretations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing diagnostic tests in cytogenetics, molecular genetics or biochemical genetics
- Analyzing test results and providing interpretations
- Demonstrating expertise in standard professional tasks within the discipline
- Applying scientific knowledge towards the performance, analysis and trouble-shooting of diagnostic procedures
- Responsible for the validation of Quality Control at the supervisory level under the direction of management

Essential Requirements:
- Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
- Working With Children Check (DHS)
- Immunisation screening as indicated in the role description
Education/Vocational Qualifications:
A medical scientist must possess one of the following qualifications:
- A degree at Australian Qualifications Framework level 7 awarded from a university in Australia with > 70% of subjects relevant to the field of pathology of a 3-year degree
- A degree at Australian Qualifications Framework level 7 with subjects relevant to the field of pathology awarded by an overseas tertiary institution if the qualification is assessed as equivalent to a degree accredited by the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists
- An associate qualification conferred by the Australian Institute of Medical Technologists before 1 December 1973
Salary:
We offer an attractive salary package including attractive salary packaging options. Salary levels are between MeS1 - $67,466 - $82,359 (p.a.)+ Superannuation & Salary Sacrifice Benefits, and MeS2 - $86,950 - $107,201 (p.a.)+ Superannuation & Salary Sacrifice Benefits.
