Fabrication Supervisor Job Description

As a Fabrication Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in the building process. You will lead and manage a team of welders to ensure the supply of quality steel frames and building components in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.

We design, manufacture, and install modular buildings for education, affordable housing, mining, custodial, and commercial sectors across all mainland Australian states. Our recreational vehicle work includes servicing, as well as manufacture and distribution of leading products.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Leading and supporting the Welding department to achieve objectives and KPIs
  • Carrying out QA/QC inspections
  • Interfacing with various departments
  • Day-to-day planning and decision-making
  • Delegating work between welding teams to maximise workflow
  • Reporting on various aspects to the Manufacturing Manager
  • Ensuring a high level of quality and adherence to safety procedures
  • Maintaining plant and equipment, ensuring consumables are kept in stock, and promoting a clean and organised workshop

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar role in fabrication/welding
  • Vast knowledge of metal fabrication and building products
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Negative Material Testing (NDT) certification (desired but not essential)
  • Strong focus on Safety and Quality Control
  • Sound written and oral communication skills
  • Skilled in defining, prioritising, and organising tasks to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated drive and initiative
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Professional attitude towards work ethics
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification (desired but not essential)
  • Welding, Boilermaker, or Metal Fabrication Certification
  • Current valid Australian Driver's License
  • Construction White Card
  • High-Risk Forklift Ticket (desired but not essential)
