Product Owner Role Overview


We are seeking a highly experienced Product Owner to join our team at Westpac Institutional Banking. As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for delivering high-value, high-quality products within the Westpac Agile Execution Framework.


Key Responsibilities



  • Work closely with the Product Manager to execute the overall product strategy and ensure the product contributes to the division's planned business outcomes.
  • Manage the product's stakeholders, balancing customer and business needs, and translating them into features.
  • Refine and clarify the benefits as understanding increases through product delivery, driving business case realisation and ensuring the product maintains a competitive advantage.
  • Understand the Divisional and Group objectives and strategies, ensuring the product adheres to business controls and meets legal and compliance requirements.
  • Maximise the value of the product to the customer and the division.
  • Manage the product backlog.
  • Support the development team.
  • Collaborate with product partners and vendors when necessary.

Requirements



  • Extensive background working in the financial services industry.
  • Experience working in a large and complex organisation and working with senior stakeholders and understanding their viewpoints.
  • Good experience working as a Product Owner, with experience rolling out Human-Workflow automation capabilities, Digitizing Forms, and defining Customer/ Banking servicing journey.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate well with teams.
  • Facilitative and able to lead and demonstrate value-add principles to a team.
  • Ability to ensure Agile/ Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to.
  • Situationally aware and able to notice differences and issues as they arise and elevate them to management.
  • Focus on continual improvement.
  • Ability to lead a team to self-organisation.
  • Will to give the team freedom to make mistakes and learn from them.
