Environmental Scientist

As a key member of the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program, you will play a crucial role in preserving the Great Barrier Reef for future generations. The program focuses on innovative interventions to reduce coral bleaching stress and protect this critical ecosystem.

As an Environmental Scientist - Reef Restoration Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting in the setup, maintenance, and operation of advanced scientific instruments across various platforms, including marine vessels, manned aircraft, drones, and offshore structures. This is a unique opportunity to work with state-of-the-art instrumentation, including atmospheric, aerosol, and lidar technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and deployment of scientific instruments across multiple platforms
• Maintain and operate complex scientific instrumentation, including atmospheric, aerosol, and lidar technologies
• Collaborate with a team of experts to collect and analyze data related to reef health and resilience

Requirements:

• Post-secondary qualification in engineering, electronics or related field
• At least 12 months technical experience working with complex scientific instrumentation
• Proficiency in atmospheric, aerosol, and lidar instrumentation, as well as hyperspectral cameras
• Experience with instrument communication protocols and various data logging and programming methods
