Job Description

Job Title: Head of Department English

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled English Department Head to join our team at Legal Aid NSW. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the English department and contributing to the development of educational programs that promote academic excellence and student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the English department and develop and implement educational programs that align with the school's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to design and deliver high-quality educational programs that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Develop and implement assessment and evaluation strategies to measure student progress and achievement.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for teachers to enhance their skills and knowledge in English education.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote academic excellence and student success.

Requirements:

  • Approval to teach English 7 – 10.
  • Demonstrated capability to work as a dynamic member of the school executive in the implementation of key initiatives to support the school's strategic directions in alignment with the shared vision.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead staff through curriculum reform and implementing new syllabuses through quality teaching, learning and assessment practices.
  • A visible leader with capacity to work collaboratively with staff, students and community to drive quality, evidence-based practises that have a sustained impact on student improvement, with specific reference to growth for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality educational programs and services. The role will require strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students and community.
