Project Manager Leader

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to assist in the delivery of our construction projects. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication and project management abilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of a project team, managing on-site engineering functions and procurement activities, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.

• Directing and coordinating the activities of a project team associated with SMP and civil components, programme workloads and providing technical and administrative guidance to project staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved.
• Managing on-site engineering functions and procurement activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.
• Demonstrating safety leadership and completing safety observations/audits.
• Contributing to constructability improvements for the design.
• Arranging and overseeing the letting of supply or works contracts as required.
• Assisting with the preparation of site construction budgets and reports.
• Monitoring project progress for adherence to programme and reporting to the Project Manager.
• Coordinating plant design deliverables and interfacing with procurement or construction via respective lead engineers or Design Manager.
• Assisting Planner and Project Manager to prepare and update schedules for the project.
• Ensuring that contract works 'packages' are engineered in accordance with standards set by both client and company.
• Issuing contracts/purchase orders timely and ensuring they comply with Head Contract and internal procedures.
• Supporting construction management and supervision personnel in delivering Electrical works packages including development of documentation to ensure safe delivery of work and compliance to project drawings, standards and specifications.
• Ensuring all variations to scope or specifications are approved and documented.
• Supporting Project Manager for end of month cost reviews, preparation of forecasts and financial reports.
• Setting up and maintaining orderly project directory files and ensuring schedules, drawings and correspondence are recorded, stored and distributed in accordance with procedure.
• Supporting effective subcontractor management to ensure commercial and quality KPIs are achieved.

• Tertiary education in electrical engineering.
• 10+ years construction project experience preferably within mining and resources sector.
• Solid Leadership experience with focus on nurturing strong organisational culture.
• Strong commercial skills and demonstrated experience negotiating and managing contracts.
• Procurement and/or Contract Administration of site subcontracts.
• Experience in cost control and planning.
• Experience in Computerised Commissioning Management System (Hexagon's Smart Completions or similar) highly desirable.
• Great interpersonal and communication skills and collaborating well with diverse teams and building positive relationships.
• Experience with MS Office Suite and MS Project or Primavera P6.
