Medical Laboratory Assistant

This role requires a professional with the ability to collect pathology specimens in various settings, providing high-quality healthcare services to all referrers and consumers.

The successful candidate will contribute to a customer-focused pathology collection service across inpatient, outpatient, and home care settings. They will perform venepuncture and other duties pertaining to specimen collection, data entry, processing, and delivery into sites for pathology investigations as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to a high-quality patient experience through effective communication and exceptional service skills.
  • Perform a range of tasks including venepuncture, specimen collection, and data entry with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Work effectively within a team environment to achieve collective goals and objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A Certificate III in Pathology Collections or previous experience in venepuncture or demonstrated ability to learn all aspects of the clinical environment relevant to the department.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, carers, and clinical staff.
  • Familiarity with pathology terminology and requirements, with a willingness to learn a broad scope of collection, data entry, and specimen preparation practices.
