About the Role

The Housing Chaplain is a key member of the team providing holistic care and support to residents and staff within a housing context. This role is responsible for delivering a range of key objectives, including:

  • Developing and implementing a holistic pastoral care program;
  • Nurturing a Jesus-centered spirituality among residents and staff;
  • Building a healthy community through sound community development practices;
  • Collaborating with volunteers to enhance care services within the organization.

As a Chaplain, you will be a member of the Church and Community Engagement team of Churches of Christ, supporting activities aligned with the strategic direction of the organization and consistent with its mission and values.

About You

You are an active Christian with a demonstrated competence in holistic pastoral care. As a team player with a teachable spirit, you are able to communicate effectively with others in various contexts. You are comfortable working alongside people from diverse faiths, cultures, and lifestyle choices, as well as educational backgrounds. You are a caring and positive role model to others, with proven leadership and management skills to deliver outcomes, inspire and motivate teams, and work across organizational boundaries to achieve shared goals.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Ability to be endorsed as a Ministering Person with Churches of Christ;
  • Certificate IV in Pastoral Care, Chaplaincy, Christian Ministry, or a relevant equivalent qualification;
  • Current Driver's license and a willingness to travel periodically;
  • Demonstrated experience in providing pastoral care, chaplaincy services, or community development at an advanced level;
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a servant leader who values all people, including the marginalized;
  • Demonstrated ability to model a missional lifestyle and communicate Christian beliefs and convictions within the Australian context.
