Project Engineer Job Description

Our team is driven by the challenge of transforming lives for good. We thrive in an environment that values rising to challenges and delivering sustainable outcomes. The Belmont South NSW seawater desalination project is one of the largest capital projects in the water sector in the Hunter region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure projects are implemented according to plans, designs, and specifications.
  • Undertake cost controlling, budgeting, forecasting, subcontract claim review, and commercial negotiation activities.
  • Monitor construction progress for adherence to program and reporting to the Area Manager.
  • Provide technical and other support to Supervisors and sub-contractors, including liaison with consultants to optimize safety, time, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects.
  • Direct exposure to interfacing with clients and working on a project through the lifecycle of planning, establishment, delivery, commissioning, and handover.
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment, and quality risk assessments to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes.
  • Establish and maintain an effective quality system to ensure all records, test results, and inspections required under the contract are obtained.
  • Analyze and use document and record management, progress and project performance reporting compliance reporting.
  • Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
  • Assist in the planning, procurement, and delivery of various supplier packages.
  • Exercise professional judgement in resolving engineering issues, i.e., Construction methods, design, engineering procedures.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Project Engineer and operational experience.
  • Previous experience working on infrastructure projects worth over $100m.
  • Experience in FRP construction, including Temporary Works.
  • Previous experience in Water Infrastructure & Marine construction, highly desirable.
  • Project delivery and tender experience.
  • Ability to work well with various stakeholders and build strong relationships.
  • A can-do attitude with a hands-on approach.
  • Effective team-player capabilities.
