Job Title: Laboratory Support Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced laboratory support technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support for education and research laboratories, ensuring that they run smoothly and efficiently.

The role involves contributing to the maintenance of equipment, instruments, and chemicals required for teaching laboratories and research, as well as assisting with sourcing and maintaining equipment and supplies. The successful candidate will also be responsible for responding to technical support requests in a timely and courteous manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the smooth running of education and research laboratories through provision of quality technical support
  • Maintain and repair mechanical, electronic, and computing equipment relevant to Psychology teaching and research laboratories
  • Source and maintain equipment, instruments, chemicals, and consumables required for teaching laboratories and research
  • Respond to technical support requests in an efficient and courteous manner
  • Liaise with suppliers to rectify faults and organise repairs
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A completion of an associate diploma or certificate level qualification with relevant work experience, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training, and/or experience
  • Demonstrated skills in construction, maintenance, and repair of aspects of mechanical, electronic, or computing equipment relevant to Psychology teaching and research laboratories
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Effective record keeping skills (both paper and electronic)
