About the Role

Sydney Veterinary Emergency & Specialists is seeking a Casual/Part-Time ECC Nurse to join their nursing team. The ideal candidate will be driven by patient care, client care, and personal growth, and thrive in a positive work culture.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be willing to work overnight shifts. They will display professionalism, empathy, and excellent customer service and care, with a passion for animals and respect for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Triage of emergency patients
  • Responsible for organizing and assisting on procedures on emergency patients
  • Skilled to perform anesthesia on a range of patients from pediatric to geriatric patients and often critically ill patients for short and long procedures
  • Placement of IV catheters, phlebotomy, performing radiographs of diagnostic quality, intensive care and monitoring, pre and post-operative patient care
  • Work directly with specialists and emergency clinicians to ensure that the patient, clients, clinicians, and team are all attended to and working in sync
  • Client communication – providing advice, answering questions, and soothing client fears about the status of their pet
  • Cleaning – while we have a fantastic animal attendant team, the nurses still need to help to keep the hospital clean and tidy

About You

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a qualified veterinary nurse
  • Current Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Veterinary Technician Diploma
  • Experience in emergency and/or referral practice is desirable but not essential
