Job Summary:

The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a skilled Defence Technical Governance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of the Cargo Helicopter and Uncrewed Surveillance Program Office (CHUSPO), you will play a critical role in delivering leading-edge sustainment support services to the ADF's Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) fleets.

About the Role:

  • You will be responsible for providing forward-looking advisory services to management, planning and conducting assessments of industry partners, and engaging with industry in compliance testing, monitoring, and adherence to requirements.
  • As a Defence Technical Governance Specialist, you will work with managers to develop and provide recommendations to resolve weaknesses in engineering system controls and assist in the achievement of outcomes.
  • You will uphold Defence and Uncrewed Aerial Systems Management Unit (UASMU) behaviours, values, and culture, while maintaining a well-developed understanding of the engineering and oversight frameworks within Defence.
  • With highly developed communication skills and excellent attention to detail, you will collaborate across key aviation stakeholders to achieve high-quality outcomes.

About Us:

The CHUSPO delivers through-life support for the CH-47F Chinook and Army Aviation System Branch-supported fleet of Uncrewed Aerial Systems. Our team is committed to sensing and adapting to developments in technology and applications, enabling UAS to be an integral part of Defence operations.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • You will have in-depth knowledge of the Defence engineering and oversight activities, as well as previous experience in engineering and oversight systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and issues resolution skills, along with excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, are essential for this role.
  • You will also possess strong analytical skills and the ability to identify, resolve, and mitigate risks associated with engineering and oversight activities.
  • Able to provide expert policy advice and guidance on technical matters within your area of expertise, you will thrive in a multi-disciplinary, integrated workforce environment.

Salary and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $115,000 per annum, plus benefits such as generous superannuation, annual leave loading, and access to professional development opportunities.
