We are seeking an exceptional individual to support our donors through their donation process, while working collaboratively to achieve collection targets. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering an exceptional service to our donors.

About the Role

You will be responsible for greeting and interviewing potential donors, completing routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests, setting up machines and equipment, inserting and removing needles safely to collect whole blood and plasma, monitoring donors post-donation, and assisting them to rebook for their next donation. You may also participate in Lifeblood's donor mobile unit activities.

  • Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate
  • Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
  • Set up machines and various tubing and collection bags
  • Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood and plasma
  • Monitor donors post-donation and assist them to rebook for their next donation
  • Participate in Lifeblood's donor mobile unit activities

Our paid and flexible self-paced training program has a balance between on-the-job practice and online class schedules to ensure that you are well supported. There is also an opportunity to enrol and gain a Certificate III in Pathology.

Key Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess:

  • A genuine passion to deliver an amazing donor experience
  • Occasional lifting of between 9-22.7kgs
  • Frequent standing, walking, and bending to set up and pack down machines and blood products
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Saturday
